Alfred Nobel, Suecia y una historia de la industria farmacéutica

Si este blog está dedicado a cuatro de mis países favoritos y uno de ellos es Suecia, resulta lógico que comparta aquí la información de mi último libro, “From Alfred Nobel to AstraZeneca”. Este libro que nos adentra en la historia de la industria farmacéutica a través de la historia de uno de sus grandes laboratorios, precisamente el que tuvo su origen en Alfred Nobel, y no sólo está ampliamente documentado sino que también incluye historias humanas, anécdotas, curiosidades… Por ejemplo –y ya que hablamos de Suecia- el fundador de Astra fue un premio Nobel sueco, la empresa de Alfred Nobel, “Nobel industries” dio lugar al nacimiento –en sus orígenes- de esta compañía que, tras la fusión con la británica Zeneca, mantuvo un equilibrio de poderes entre el Reino Unido y Suecia mediante una fusión modelo.

The pharmaceutical industry has always been a shadowy world that has shunned transparency; for pharmaceutical executives, seeing a journalist was more frightening than any danger, and thus they avoided them, and continue to avoid them constantly. However, as recounted in this book, there was a time when information transparency and proactive engagement with journalists were the norm... a period that, unfortunately, has not been repeated.
